Harvesting some herbs from the garden today ♡ White Sage for smudge sticks. Winter is coming!
Random photo I know lol. I feel like I'm crawling out of a cave for the first time since starting renos on the basement a month ago. We have almost completely finished the cement work and waterproofing, I have torn down and reconstructed all the walls and Mike helped me rewire the lighting and electrical outlets. I've finished building my shelving for the coldroom and storage room and finished some of my barnwood structural projects. My favorite improvement so far is the painting of the ceiling! What a difference it makes down there 😍 Ductwork will be getting a fresh coat too. Can't wait to share the finished basent with y'all when it's done. Couple more weeks!!
Brownies eggs have started hatching! A first for us and we're pretty smitten 😊

The original Fort that relocated to become my hometown 😊
This weekend Mike and I participated in #paddleforthepeace on behalf of the #peacerivervalley, #westmoberlyfirstnations, #prophetriverfirstnations, the #pvla, and British Columbians opposed to the destruction of the precious valley for the construction of another of many dams along the mighty river. This dam has been in the works for over 40 years. It has been stopped twice before due to it's lack of economic or social justification despite multiple government and industry juggernauts' attempts to profit off of it . A local first nations woman, and a friend of mine whom I admire and adore, said 'instead of being angry or reactionary to the injustices we have endured, please join myself, my mother, and my daughter in an offering of tobacco in gratitude for what this river has given us' The strength and resiliance of the indigenous people who respectfully occupied this utopia before colonialists sought to commodify it inspires me every day to continue to stand firmly in my virtue; to defend the tradition, culture, and heritage of those who did it right before my own ancestors imposed on the land and people with their selfish, unsustainable, and genocidal practices. This valley stands for everything we have to lose in this world if we don't all change our way of thinking #naturalresources #cleanair #cleanwater #foodsecurity #solidarity #family #community #sustainability
